Stone Driveways

Graded stone or gravel driveways are the most economical choice. A stone driveway gives that rustic look with plenty of variety of stone to chose from. The downside is that in some cases they can require regular maintenance. Stone and gravel can move from heavy traffic, snow plowing and extreme rainfall.

Why Grade

If a house is newly constructed this type of driveway is popular to access the site. In some cases, that if the area has been excavated recently, you can install a stone driveway to let the ground settle before you put a more permanent driveway solution in place. There are also cases where another area of your property needs to be accessed and installing stone is an aesthetic and functional choice.

How it’s installed

A gravel driveway is installed much like a paved driveway, only without the final asphalt surface. The area where the gravel driveway is proposed would be dug out and graded to ensure proper pitch to avoid drainage issues. Next we would install the processed stone gravel” with a grading machine or a bull dozer and compact it with a vibratory roller.
