Why Asphalt vs. other surfaces

Asphalt is the most economical solution for a more permanent surface. Asphalt has the ability to withstand the harsh climate change of New England. It is virtually maintenance free compared to loose stone or gravel driveways that have to be maintained regularly to prevent potholes and erosion.

How its installed

The longevity of your driveway starts with the grading of your existing gravel driveway or removing an old driveway and installing a new processed stone base. Once the driveway is graded and compacted its time to start the paving process. The asphalt is over 300 degrees and is applied to the driveway by hand raking in the hard to reach areas and then the bulk of the driveway is paving with a paving machine. Once the hot asphalt is spread it needs to be compacted with rollers to give it its strength.
